Mikayil Faye joined Rennes this season out of necessity as Barcelona wanted to comply with Fair Play regulations.

Mikayil Faye agent Andy Bara has confirmed the 19-year-old centre-back had to leave Barcelona to join Rennes this summer due to the club’s situation, the club revealed on the Inkubator podcast on Sunday.

Bara represents Daniel Olmo and Mikayil Faye, who were both directly involved in the 19-year-old defender’s move away from the club, although the player did not want to leave and Barcelona were also reluctant to let him go.

‘Mikayil Faye left the team because of the situation with Olmo. He didn’t want to leave and Barcelona didn’t want to sell him. They wanted to follow the Fair Play rules, so he had to leave. Barcelona wanted to sell Inigo Martinez at first, but he didn’t want to leave.’

‘He spoke to Hansi Flick during the pre-season tour in the United States, where Hansi told Faye: ‘Don’t worry, you will have the chance to play at least 10 games this season and from next season, we will see how it goes.’ Faye agreed with Flick and they are all happy. ‘

‘Barcelona needed Olmo so they had to sell some players. I used my player (Fay) to help Barcelona in that situation and explained everything to him.’

Bara also reveal that several clubs are interest in Mikhail Fai, and one of them is Manchester United.

‘There were a lot of clubs interest, like Rennes, Inter, Lille, Marseille, Frankfurt. As I said, there were a lot of clubs. In the 15 days before Fai moved to Rennes, Barcelona didn’t want to talk about his transfer. They thought he could break into the first team.’

‘Manchester United were one of the parties that UFABET showed interest in Mikhail Fai but he didn’t like that option. He didn’t start for Barcelona and if he doesn’t get the same chance at United, his development will not progress at all.’
